CRCC Advocacy
The Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) is committed to advocating for both its Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRCs) and the profession of rehabilitation counseling. CRCC engages on national, state, and local levels with legislators, regulators, educators, employers, and practitioners in four key areas:
Health Care Reform
CRCC advocates across individual state health care reform councils for the inclusion of rehabilitation counseling for individuals with disabilities and recognition of CRCs as the professionals qualified to provide services. For updates on active state discussions, go to Health Care Reform.
State Licensure
CRCC advocates for recognition of CRCs and the CRC Exam in general counseling state licensure. For postings on recent state discussions and activities, go to State Licensure.
The Profession
CRCC supports and engages in efforts to increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the profession of rehabilitation counseling. For more information, go to The Profession.
Workplace Recognition
CRCC advocates to facilitate employer understanding and recognition of the significant benefits associated with the CRC designation in both their hiring and staffing practices. For more information, go to Workplace Recognition.
CRC Advocacy
CRCs are trained to advocate for those with disabilities and to assist them in advocating for themselves. Equally important is CRCs advocating to support both their credential and the profession of rehabilitation counseling. CRCC encourages all CRCs to get involved. Consider assisting in CRCC’s Health Care Reform advocacy initiatives (volunteer here), joining a professional organization that supports rehabilitation counselors (view CRCC Appointing Organizations), or getting involved on a national or local, issue-specific level. While the actions of CRCC are important, CRC involvement is equally and often times more important.
Health Care Reform: CRC Volunteer Opportunity
CRCC requests assistance from CRCs in making state health care councils aware of the integral role and function of CRCs in providing quality rehabilitation counseling services to individuals with disabilities. If you are a CRC and interested in volunteering your time, in any amount, please complete a brief online questionnaire. Experience working with legislators is not needed; CRCC will provide information, guidance, and support for all volunteers.
