The Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) is committed to advocating on behalf of the Rehabilitation Counseling profession, engaging on national, state, and local levels with legislators, regulators, educators, and practitioners both directly and through partnerships with other key associations and organizations.

Current CRCC advocacy initiatives are focused on:
  • Increasing Awareness, Understanding, and Appreciation of the Rehabilitation Counseling Profession
  • Advancing State Licensure and Educational Standards for Rehabilitation Counseling
  • Leveraging Key Partnerships to Increase Access for Rehabilitation Counselors

Advocacy Update:
California says YES to Licensure

After seven years and three bills, California became the 50th state to license professional counselors as Senate Bill 788 was signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger.  With the new law going into effect on January 1, 2010, there will be a grand parenting period during which time supervision under a CRC and the CRC Exam will be recognized.  CRCC fully endorses all CRCs practicing in California to pursue licensure under these grand parenting statutes.  Please check California Coalition for Counselor Licensure (CCCL) website under Licensure Requirements, or www.caccl.org/requirements.html for full details on qualifications and timing.
