CRC/CCRC Certification Renewal
The Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) believes that individuals certified as rehabilitation counselors (CRC, CCRC, CRC-MAC, or CRC-CS) must continue to expand their skills to enhance the quality of services they provide. The CRCC conducts a job analysis every 5 years to ensure the CRC certification process accurately reflects current rehabilitation counseling practices.
Consequently, to maintain their certification status, CRCs and CCRCs must renew their certification every 5 years, thus ensuring CRCs continue to serve their clients most effectively.
Certification renewal, or recertification, may be obtained in one of two ways:
Option 1: By earning 100 hours of continuing education, of which 10 must be in Ethics, OR
Option 2: Through re-examination (available to CRCs only)
Complete criteria for certification renewal via both the continuing education and re-examination options is detailed in CRCC’s Criteria for Certification Renewal and Continuing Education Manual.
