CRC/CCRC Certification Renewal

Certification Renewal

CRCC believes that individuals certified as rehabilitation counselors (CRC, CCRC, CRC-MAC, or CRC-CS) must continue to expand their skills to enhance the quality of services they provide. The CRCC conducts a Role and Function Study every 5 years to ensure the CRC certification process accurately reflects current rehabilitation counseling practices.

Consequently, to maintain their certification status, CRCs and CCRCs must renew their certification every 5 years, thus ensuring CRCs continue to serve their clients most effectively.

Certification renewal, or recertification, may be obtained in one of two ways:

Option 1: By earning 100 hours of continuing education, of which 10 must be in Ethics

Option 2: Through re-examination (available to CRCs only)

Complete criteria for certification renewal via both the continuing education and re-examination options is detailed in CRCC’s Criteria for Certification Renewal and Continuing Education Manual.

All certification renewals must be completed through the CRCC Online Portal. Online renewal applications are available approximately 4 months prior to the certification "valid-through" date.
