CRCC Amnesty 2020 Program

The CRC certification demonstrates a commitment to upholding high professional standards. When a person’s credential has lapsed, the pathway to recertification is to apply for and pass the CRC Exam.

Beginning January 1, 2020, the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) will offer a one-time CRC Amnesty Program to formerly certified professionals still active in the field who would like to reinstate certification. CRCC acknowledges that certain life changing events sometimes make it challenging to maintain the credential. It is CRCC’s intent to bring expired CRCs back to the rehabilitation counseling profession.

CRCC recognizes the need for additional CRC professionals as state and federal government agencies have enacted or are considering policies that require a CRC certification. Our Amnesty program is one way to address this increased demand for CRC professionals.

The CRC credential will not be retroactive. The recertified person will begin a new five-year certification cycle and must meet the renewal requirements going forward.
