Nancy Adams is a rehabilitation specialist with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services. She is also a CRC, certified sign language interpreter, employment specialist, training specialist, and master mentor with 20 years in the field of vocational rehabilitation. She earned her Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Auburn University and the Master Mentor Certification through Troy University. As an active community participant, she has served in leadership roles with numerous disability-related organizations. She serves on the Alabama Licensure Board for Interpreters and Transliterators and the Alabama School of Alcohol and Other Drug Studies as a board member representing the profession of vocational rehabilitation. She is a member of the National Rehabilitation Association, the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, the Association for Supporting People in Employment First, and the Alabama Governor’s Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities. Her professional interests are in self-care, counseling ethics, cultural awareness, mentoring, American Sign Language, sign language interpreting, and instructional systems design for adult learners.
